Covid-19 has put the world on its head whilst Governments, health-care workers and volunteers around the globe continue to do their best to contain the Corona Virus and save lives. We are very aware of the devastating economic, health & social impacts it is having on many. We are also very aware of the uncertainty around how this will play out in the coming months and what this means for travel. Because of this we have a message for you.
Eswatini, South Africa and other Governments in our region have implemented early travel restrictions and social distancing to limit the spread of the Novel Corona Virus in tandem with countries around the world. These measures have brought economies to a grinding halt. This has sparked the urgent need for action & creative thinking within our industry in particular. We’ve asked ourselves how, under these abnormal circumstances, can we ensure our business survives and best serve our nation and safely contribute to our communities? What does it mean for our environment and wildlife? What is the responsible thing to do? Having asked these questions, it’s important to understand and not underestimate the contribution of travel & tourism to our local and extended economies. Tourism recovery is crucial. It plays a vital role in sustainable development, conservation, employment, community support, international and regional understanding and economic growth. Support and fellowship of family and friends is also crucial for wellbeing at this time. Wide Horizons Mountain Retreat offers an ideal opportunity to meet these economic needs as well as the wishes for our prospective guests whilst serving the needs of our community during this time.
At Wide Horizons Mountain Retreat there is nothing more important to us than the health and well-being of our guests, staff and stakeholders as well as the creatures that roam our reserve. Please be assured we are doing everything in our power to responsibly follow global and national health guidelines while balancing the needs of keeping our business going and serving our community. We have strict cleaning, sanitizing and social distancing protocols in place and all rooms are without human contact for at least 24hrs before check in.
We are exceptionally proud of our amazing staff who continue to work tirelessly to keep abreast of this challenging situation. They have all demonstrated wonderful qualities that are crucial to finding win-win solutions in challenging times like these. Thank you to our Team for their resilience, strength and patience. And so we invite our guests to get back to nature, to re-connect (responsibly) with friends and family, to stroll along our hidden paths among wildlife and bird song, to watch the sun set over distant hills with a glass of wine in hand or to cuddle up in cosy comfort. Our current special long-stay and COVID-19 getaway options were set up with this in mind. We invite you to get away and re-connect with the simple life of old and to experience the charm of Wide Horizons.
